BENEFITS OF THE SUMMER DANCEcamp PROGRAM
The summer session is one of the most important of the six sessions that are offered in the year. The dancers are out of school, and we take advantage of this time to work on the many important aspects of dance which will help strengthen their technique. With more classes per week, the dancers are able to improve at a faster rate. For example, in the summer session last year eleven dancers advanced three dance levels which is something usually done in three years. Fifteen dancers advanced two dance levels, and sixty-two dancers advanced one dance level within the summer session. Through the continued hard work and dedication of the dancers, there will be much improvement in the ability and quality of each individual dancer. This in turn will give each dancer the chance to rapidly advance to the next dance level or possibly even further.
Without the summer session, students forget many things learned in the previous session causing the advancement process to be slowed down due to spending class time reviewing things learned in the past. Everyone likes to reap the rewards of advancement and improvement, and there is no easier or faster way to do it than the Summer DANCEcamp Program.
ABOUT THE CLASSES
Creative Dance
Creative Dance is a specialized program for young dancers ages 3 to 6. Everything is presented to them in an enjoyable way so they enjoy learning ballet basics and terminology, posture, stretching, creativity, expression and coordination.
*DANCEcamp Activities
After the dance class dancers will enjoy fun activities that teach them Good Nutrition, Creative Expression Mime, Dance History, Music, Anatomy and Dance Vocabulary. They will view ballet videos during their snack time. A few activities include creating a dancer’s costume, tiara and magic wand. Each age level has activities based on a certain ballet that they are studying. Students will bring home all the activities done in a scrapbook that they will make on the last day.
*Lunch/Snack
Please bring a healthy snack (or lunch) to eat after your dance classes. The dancers will eat their snack (or lunch) while viewing a video of the ballet they are studying. Afterward, they will start their DANCEcamp Activities.
